Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Staten Island elementary school servicing a multicultural population of students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. Music and the arts have been a powerful unifier in our school.

My students are eager to participate in the arts, and that is a big focus in our building. Our children demonstrate all kinds of talents beyond their academics, and we try our best to offer as many extracurricular activities as part of a well-rounded education.

My Project

Our school's chorus has gotten worldwide recognition over the past several years for its viral videos. The children learn songs of different genres and perform them for the world to see. In addition to creating entertaining performances that are forever captured, my students are learning confidence and the art of self-expression.

My students have been creating absolutely beautiful music videos for several years now.

Unfortunately, our recording equipment is sorely outdated and the quality of the video does not do justice to the quality of the performances. The chorus has inspired people all over the world with their YouTube videos and the kids deserve to have their hard work captured properly. These videos are lasting memories for our students and we look forward to updating the technology to suit the times.
