Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project is designed for students to experience various roles within sports education while engaging in a structured Ultimate Frisbee league. The objective is to not only foster teamwork, physical fitness, and strategic thinking but also to highlight the importance of health and rehabilitation in sports. Students will participate in Ultimate Frisbee matches, rotating through different roles, including coach, referee, and physiotherapist.

A key component of the project will be integrating Health Education into the sports experience.

Each team will have a group of at least three student physiotherapists responsible for leading the cool-down process after each game. This will include stretching techniques and, on selected days, using a massage gun, a popular tool in physical rehabilitation and recovery. The use of a massage gun will allow students to experience an innovative approach to physical conditioning and recovery. Each day, one team will have the opportunity to use the massage gun, introducing students to this effective tool for muscle relaxation and recovery.

The league will run over several weeks, culminating in a final tournament where students can showcase both their Ultimate Frisbee skills and their knowledge of physical recovery techniques. By the end of the project, students will have gained hands-on experience in the key roles involved in sports education, including rehabilitation, coaching, and officiating.

In order to successfully execute this project, we need Frisbees for the Ultimate games, as the school currently does not have enough for all teams. Additionally, a massage gun is essential for the physiotherapy aspect of the project, as it is a valuable tool for muscle recovery. Due to its high cost, we would greatly appreciate any donations of Frisbees and a massage gun to ensure that all students can fully participate in this educational and health-focused initiative.
