Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students have a deep love for music and dancing. They come from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds. We have many who have recently immigrated to the United States. Although they are still learning English the students enjoy singing the songs from their new country.

At our Title 1 school, many of the students do not have the opportunity to take music lessons.

That is why the general music program is vital to their musical development. I have been developing the program for the last three years. In addition to the ukulele program, I am also in charge of the Disney Musical in Schools.

My Project

These ukuleles will contribute to our music program at our school. With a full set of ukuleles, all students will be able to learn the instrument in general music class. Students will be able to play along with their favorite songs and develop a deeper understanding of music.

Currently, our school does not have an instrumental program.

The only opportunity for the students to learn instruments is in the general music class. I am hoping that with the ukulele program we will be able to perform in the community and beyond.
