Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our Class we are striving to support the needs of a highly underdeveloped student population into a more well rounded and diverse student group. Through in-school Opera performances, trips to the OKC Symphony, to highly innovative teaching methods customized to a specific student style of learning. Our students range from new students that don't speak any English to high achieving students. We are a 100% Title 1 school with a very limited funding supply to meet the needs of 923 students. We love any help you can give us. With deep gratitude, Mrs. Vaughn.

My Project

These students have not experienced many things outside of our school, neighborhood, or our city. These instruments give my students the opportunity through music to experience new cultures. Ukulele is a unique instrument rich in culture and history. The geography that this instrument historically comes from is rich and diverse. While learning to play the instrument is our primary goal, understanding its background will be included in the project. It will stretch me as an educator also. By researching these instruments I am continuing my education as well. I hope that you will invest in this project to enrich my students and our community.
