This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am writing this proposal for my students who participate in our music program. Our elementary school serves a large urban area with a high percentage of students from low-income homes. Our student body is culturally diverse, allowing our school community to experience languages and customs from many cultures as we interact daily.

Many of my students do not have the opportunity to explore and experience high-quality music instruction outside of the school setting.

Seeing them grow in their knowledge and excitement of music is exciting. Many of our students will continue participating in music at the high school level.

We are requesting classical themes for ukulele song books, chord books, and ukulele tablature books for our learning project. My students are interested in adding some classical music themes to the learning in our classroom. The books that we selected include some of the greatest classical music melodies. It will be so exciting to add these new selection to our learning repertoire. Learning how to play ukuleles is the perfect challenge for my students. We learn practical music skills like note reading, rhythm training, basic chords, and beginning playing techniques. It will be so exciting for my classes to add some of the challenging classical music themes to the music they are already learning.
