My Students

We are a Title I New York City public school in Queens, Astoria. Our school has a very diverse population. We have students that come from different parts of the world. We have a lot of English Language Learners, Special Education and Gifted and Talented students as well as general education students.

We love our school and we love our students.

Our students are excited to learn! We have a great community and supportive parents. As a music teacher I want to give our students opportunities to learn,play and explore!

My Project

Imagine a class of 4th or fifth grades happily singing songs and playing along on their ukuleles. Students will be learning about song structure, chords and chord progression through music making.

It is often said that one should try new things to discover your passions: I want to give my students an opportunity to play new musical instruments and expand their horizons.

Ukuleles are easier for children to play in a classroom setting, and they are also easier to store and maintain. They would be an amazing addition to the music classroom for the upper grades ( 4th and 5th grades).
