This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are special and unique in a number of ways. Being a small school students get to know each other very well. They are supportive and kind to each other frequently helping each other and offering encouragement when learning difficult music concepts. Because of the pandemic during the past school year, students were not allowed to sing in music class. Despite this hurdle, they enthusiastically embraced learning a number of rhythm instruments and put on a beautiful spring concert where they performed America the Beautiful by using American Sign Language. This event was attended by over 200 friends and family members. They love music class and performing!
My Project
Having a full classroom set of ukuleles would be incredible for my students! Students will get the opportunity to play songs that they love on an instrument that brings them joy in the classroom and on stage for their community!
Ukuleles are unique instruments in that they are small enough for young hands to manage, can be used at all levels of musical ability, and are a safe classroom choice in light of the recent pandemic.
Learning ukulele will be a hands-on, fun, and safe way to learn music! These ukuleles would be such an incredible addition to our classroom.
