All of my students are extremely bright, hilarious, and wide-eyed.
I have a great rapport with virtually all of them and we have nothing but fun learning in music class.
Our elementary school is a 21st century school. We encourage independent deep-thinking and learning throughout our school. Their intelligence, independence, and work ethic is very apparent across content levels. It's wonderful to be able to dig deep into topics with these types of students. We get into topics that are rich and meaningful and allow for a wider learning of music content.
My Project
We have had a ukulele program here at WCES for several years now. The original set of instruments we have were not the best quality to begin with and now their wear has caused them to fall out of tune very frequently and other parts need constant maintenance. In order for students to get the most out of their ukulele experience, they need quality instruments that will last, and most importantly stay in tune for an entire class period! Please help us replace our set for more effective learning!
Ukulele is an easy starter instrument to the string family.
With most students having an interest in playing an instrument in middle school next year, ukulele is a great jumping off point for developing two-handed coordination that is required for playing most popular orchestra string instruments. It is also an excellent way to synthesize all of the musical skills they have learned during their elementary music career to the real-world experience of applied instrument playing. It is the perfect instrument for building fine motor skills, dexterity, two-handed body coordination, wrist and finger strength, and a myriad of other musical skills that are necessary for instrumentalists to learn. Not only that, but music lights up all the synapses in the brain simultaneously, which helps students growth and intelligence in nearly all other content areas!
Please help provide the opportunity for our students to play on quality instruments that will stay in tune so that they can have a much more successful time learning ukulele this winter and spring!
