My students are a diverse group of smart, energetic 7th graders who are excited to use technology in the classroom. They enjoy hands-on learning and new challenges. We are sharing two computer carts among more than 400 students in all subjects so my students are frequently without access to computers in our science class. Some of my students have access to cell phones for research and simulations but there are many others that do not.
My Project
My students would like to do scientific simulations, participate in digital class reviews, do research and create presentations for our class. We will even be able to look at plant and animal cells under digital and virtual microscopes and bring the microscopic world to life. Every student needs access to tablets or computers to fully participate in digital activities.
These two tablets will engage and challenge my students to become better scientists and critical thinkers.
We will be able to do almost everything that could be done in the computer lab while in our classroom. I would eventually like to get a full class set but for now I will rotate students to different stations so that everyone can have a turn at the day's digital activity.
In addition, I have received a grant for ten LEGO Spike Prime robots. With these tablets, students will be able to complete STEM projects and lessons in class using our new robots. My goals are to engage EVERY student in learning life science and to ensure that every student is successful in this class. These tablets will help me reach those goals!
