My Students

Our school is an intercity IB public school (not a charter). My class is the upper SDC - Specific Learning Disabled class with fourth and fifth graders. Most of my class are learning disabled with a few ADHD students. Our district has started a high functioning Autism SDC so we are slowly getting less autistic children in our SLD program. My students are 95% Latino with 85% of our school being at risk / Title 1. Our parents are mostly working for families with multiple jobs, that struggle at times.

I also volunteer and teach our school's after school GATE/high achiever second through fifth grade STEAM club as well as our VEX Robotics teams ( boy and girl team this year!).

I also want to bring robotics and more technology into our whole school.

My Project

I am requesting a monitor. This is a campaign to help teachers who are mostly teaching from laptops with small screens at home during virtual teaching. The monitor can be used in our classrooms later when we return back after CV19 school site closures. During our virtual teaching via Zoom, it is hard to see our students with our small laptop screens. Having a larger monitor will help the teacher see our students and their work more clearly.

Later the screens can continue to support me and my students either by continuing to be used with my laptop or student laptops.
