My Students

The school is a Title I school located in the heart of Staten Island, New York. As one of the most diverse schools in the state of New York, our population is extremely diverse in backgrounds and cultures. We have children who have lived in this country their whole lives, and we have others who have been here just a few weeks. With that said, in this giant melting pot we have a population of children who are amazingly talented and want to perform!

My Project

Virtual learning has completely changed the way teachers teach and students learn. Pair that with teaching band over zoom, and you've got a whole new world full of uncharted territory. The greatest challenge I've found so far is that when I'm sharing my screen or attempting to show video demonstrations, I cannot see the students on my screen. Two screens will allow the students to see me and for me to see them while making a virtual band work. Students need music education in their lives now more than ever and this will help provide it to them!
