My Students

My school is located in Queens, N.Y., the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world. Our students have been fully remote since the end of October 2020 as a result of the pandemic. Many were fully remote since the start of the school year. It is truly a challenge to learn and to teach in this way.

Regardless of the differences that exist between them regarding culture, language, or skill level, they try their best to work together to stay focused, participate, and complete their work in this difficult learning environment.

It truly is magical to watch how they transform from individuals with such differing backgrounds to a cohesive and unified class. Although there are tremendous social interaction limitations for this school year, the students are doing their best to get to know each other and share ideas during class meetings.

My Project

Having a second screen while teaching remotely will allow me to better engage my students during lessons. I will be able to share my screen on one monitor while seeing students comments and their video sharing on the other. This also allows me to have other reference materials up on another screen, while I am teaching and presenting material on the other. In addition, I can open side channels more quickly when I am able to go back and forth between two screens. Thank you for helping me teach well!
