My Students

Hydroponics. Aquaponics. Vertical Farming. While many adults may be uninformed when it comes to these concepts, my fourth graders are not. Despite many of them dealing with their own unique set of challenges, they are eager to learn about global issues and are ready to change the world (one classroom at a time).

"Think for yourself; care for others" is our school motto and that's exactly what my fourth graders do every single day.

My group of 24 are caring, innovative and hardworking. They are becoming increasingly aware of global issues and are eager to brainstorm solutions, draft proposals and create small-scale projects that will make their world a little greener.

My Project

What do we need to make our school Green? LED lamps, sprouting pods, organic potting soil, basic gardening tools, vertical garden planters and some other small items to help assemble student-designed vertical gardens made from recycled materials.

Why are we creating vertical gardens?

This is not just another gardening activity. Our Response to Global Crises class teaches students about major global issues, shares innovative solutions that experts in their fields have devised, and then gives students a chance to design their own solutions on a smaller scale.

Our World's population could grow by a further 3 billion people by 2050. Farmlands are shrinking due to over-farming, drought, and other natural disasters. Vertical Farming is an innovative solution. Help my students bring their student-designed vertical gardens to life so they can educate our school community about the benefits of vertical farming.
