My Students

Every student has a gift, some just open them later than others. I truly believe all children have the ability to learn reading and math. Some just need a little more time and a teacher to believe in them. My reading and math intervention students are spirited kiddos who want to do well.

This group of students are very special kids who need extra attention.

They need to be in a class all their own where they don't feel different. My intervention classroom is exactly the place! My room is one of care and concern. I understand they need more time than most. It is a place where they can be themselves and not be intimidated to make mistakes or read aloud. During intervention, students will use my "wish list" of math and reading resources to help them "get it". Even though most of the students are economically disadvantaged, I know they can break the odds and succeed.

My Project

My students need Grade 5 common core math centers and activities and Grade 5 common core high interest reading comprehension folders and cards to help catch up to their peers. During intervention, students work in small centers both independently and with partners utilizing the materials to help them learn. I facilitate and conduct direct instruction depending upon each student's individual needs. With your donation and these materials, I can target a variety of deficient skills in reading and math where the students are struggling.

As we all know, having strong reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills are key to success in our world.

Continually providing opportunities in different formats will give each and every one of my students a chance to succeed.
