My Project

At our elementary school, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student can succeed, regardless of their culture, background, or learning challenges. The primary goal of this grant is to provide a set of thirty headphones with integrated microphones for use in our kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms. This class set of headphones will serve as an invaluable tool for achieving academic growth. Many of our students currently lack the proper equipment to fully engage with our online literacy programs. Recently, I worked with a determined student who had speech difficulties and faced challenges accessing the program. When I provided her with headphones that had an attached microphone, the computer was able to recognize her voice, allowing her to engage with the program successfully. In contrast, traditional classroom headphones are often of poor quality or lack microphones, which limits the effectiveness of the online platforms provided by the state that support speaking, listening, and reading practice.

The addition of a class set of headphones with microphones will significantly enhance our students’ experience, particularly in their ability to practice reading aloud, listen to comprehension questions, and receive guided practice in a manner that mimics the individualized feedback of a one-on-one tutor.

By funding this project, you will be helping us create a more inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for our students.
