Tuning Into Speech and Language

Help me give my students headphones with microphones for speech and language teletherapy. These headphones will help my students who have difficulty tuning out background noise "tune into" the teacher's voice during therapy.

My Students

The students I provide speech and language services are from a diverse population of varying socio-economic backgrounds on Staten Island. The students are working to better their speech, language, phonemic awareness, and overall communication skills so that they can improve their academic performance and interactions with peers and adults. My students' grade levels can range from pre-k through 5th grade. Many of my students require one on one and small group instruction to help them reach their goals. My students may have difficulty attending to tasks, processing language, or have sensory needs.

My Project

My speech and language students are receiving some or all of their services at home via computer. Sometimes it is difficult for the students to hear what I am teaching because of the background noise in their own homes. Many of them have siblings that are also working on the computer and answering their teacher's questions. These headphones will not only help the students tune into our therapy sessions with their ears, but they will also help to reduce background noise when they are speaking because of the microphone feature. This microphone will allow for the noise canceling feature to be used on google meet so that I can hear how they are producing their sounds and responding to my questions without competing for noise.
