Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed patrons of the arts, and anyone who appreciates a good oom-pah-pah, we present to you the tale of our beloved, albeit ancient, tuba. This noble instrument, which has lovingly served our school band since the days when disco was king and bell bottoms were a fashion statement, has finally tooted its last note. After four decades of faithful service and countless renditions of "Jingle Bells," it has retired to the great band room in the sky. Currently, our band is surviving on the mercy of a borrowed tuba but that tuba needs to make its return to its rightful home next school year. Thus, we humbly seek your generosity to help us acquire a new tuba and your contributions will ensure that our school's legacy of energetic, if not always harmonious, performances continues for generations to come.
