This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Tucked in the heart of the downtown area is a school where legal and law jargon engulf the halls. None of the students live in the area and take various modes of public transportation to get to school each morning. My students attend a magnet school with its emphasis in Homeland Security, Forensics, Law Enforcement, and Law.

Let’s put it like this— my students have the drive in them to make an impact in each field.

I give it a couple of years and you'll be reading about my students and the extraordinary contributions they are making.

My Project

When I'm teaching a lesson, some students demonstrate work that is worthy of recognition. Unfortunately, it is a rather tedious process I must conduct each time: first, I have to take a picture of their work; second, I e-mail the picture to my work e-mail; third, I constantly click on the "refresh" button, so I can receive the "You Got Mail" icon; fourth, once I receive the e-mail, I finally get to project the image to the class. By the time I do this cumbersome process the moment has passed, and my students have moved on to the next phrase of their assignment. In all, depending upon if the Internet is working properly, I lose an average of 3-6 minutes of teaching time.

My life in the classroom would be less hectic if I had a document camera to model exemplify student work.

I can picture it now-- students completing their assignments with enthusiasm, so they can humble brag to their fellow classmates by projecting through the document camera.
