My Students

I teach a wonderful group of second graders who are all curious, kind, hard-working and enthusiastic. From discussions about the Amazon Rain Forest to questions about our identity that help us connect to one another--it is clear that my students are eager to learn, discuss, ask questions and have fun.

In my classroom, we welcome student's ideas, questions, ways of expressing themselves, curiosities and differences--we know that each and every one of us brings value to our community.

We are constantly working on making sure that we each feel heard, valued and supported. We work on listening to one another, helping each other through challenges and working together. I strive to help provide my students with an environment that is safe and honest, encouraging and challenging, engaging and enlightening.

My Project

I am requesting reusable plastic pouches, dry erase markers and printer ink which my students will use during independent work stations at school and to help students engage with learning when we are remote. The reusable plastic pouches allow for me to put in a couple of printed sheets for each subject that students can then use and reuse throughout the week.

For ELA I can create worksheets with sound boards or word walls that when in the pouch become interactive.

In math, students will be given sheets with an 120-chart, a bar model, a number line and ten-frames for counting. Depending on the lesson, students can change which worksheet they are using. I plan on filling the plastic pockets with 5-10 important sheets and sending one home to use when we are remote due to Covid-19.

Providing my students with these reusable pouches, dry erase markers and the worksheets to fill them with, will allow them stay engaged with their work and increase academic achievement both in school and when at home for remote learning. Students will get the opportunity to work with the same tools such as a hundreds chart for math or a sound board for writing on a daily basis. This repetition will help students master skills across subjects. I will also be able to create materials to send home with students so that they all have the necessary materials when they are learning remotely.
