This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. I'm teaching music to 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students at a school located in the heart of Los Angeles, Koreatown. Our students are from diverse and economically challenged backgrounds. In spite of our students' daily challenges, they keep an upbeat and positive outlook on life. One of the programs that we offer our students is our music program. Our students absolutely love and take great pride in learning, playing and performing music together. One of our students wrote, "Music is a beautiful way of expressing yourself. It is unique and makes me feel peaceful, calm and it inspires people. It is an amazing way for people to come together".

My Project

I would love to give my trombone student a new ETB-100 Series Student Trombone that he will be able to tune. I have a student who is doing a great job in our trombone section. However, he is using a trombone that does not have the capability to tune. Unfortunately, this is the only trombone that I have to offer. Our program has very old and damaged instruments, particularly our trombones. It would be such a wonderful gift to give my student a trombone to play that is worthy of his hard work and that will be able to perform in tune with our band.
