My Students

If you've ever heard a jazz band, you've probably heard the gorgeous muted trombone sound. We don't have any mutes, so the music we play is incomplete and inaccurate. Students will ask "What should I do about that muted part?" and I don't have a good answer for them.

Our school is filled with hard-working and deserving students.

The students in our Jazz Band auditioned for their spot in the group. We perform and compete all over the city and have won awards for our playing, including a Gold Award last June at a local university.

My Project

The trombone mutes will literally change the Jazz Band's sound and allow us to play more challenging music that calls for mutes. In the past, I've had to choose music that didn't ask for mutes. A mute is inserted into the bell of the trombone, and makes the sound more mellow and soulful.

This project is important because every hard-working and dedicated music ensemble should have access to the equipment they need.

I've never worked with such talented kids. I want to be able to give them everything they need to sound great.
