My Students

Each day my students participate in gross and fine motor development activities. Every class uses movement, music, and physical development techniques to enhance the lives of students at an early age. Students are learning to love physical activities and engage in different areas of development.

I am a Physical Education teacher who is working with Pre-K students for the first time this year.

We have limited resources for physical development activities, we do not have a gymnasium and our playground area is still under construction and is promised to be open very soon. My students have been participating in Physical Education in an open classroom where I have been working on movement, balance, fine and gross motor skills. My students come from a diverse background and are at various skill levels. Students are expected to engage in various activities in order to meet their development skills, demonstrate coordination and combine motor skills with and without equipment.

My Project

As a PE teacher who is trying to help all student reach their appropriate skill sets and according to the NYS Pre-K Foundation for the Common Core, students must be able to: - Demonstrate coordination and control of large muscles - Combine a sequence of large motor skills with and without the use of equipment - Peddle a tricycle. If my students have the opportunity to learn to use a tricycle, they will meet the above standards as well as many others. Students will be able to display upright posture, maintain balance, and combine a sequence of large motor skills while engaged in an activity that will strengthen major muscle groups and promote balance and flexibility.

If we receive the tricycles, it will help my students to learn, achieve, and make tremendous progress.

Children develop at different rates and each child is unique in his/her development, growth, and acquisition of skills. All of my students are active learners who want to engage in purposeful and meaningful play. Early physical development and enjoyment of physical activity at the Pre-K level will help students to enjoy and participate in physical education classes as they get older.
