This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are starting a Graphic Design Project in which they work throughout different steps to complete a 3-color portrait. Basically, they are working the way Graphic Designers used to before software like Photoshop or Illustrator became the standard in the field.
We cut out areas on acetate paper to isolate color by masking layers with NO computer assistance.
First, we isolate the darkest darks areas. Secondly, we leave the highlights as the white of the paper. Third, we separate one light mid-tone from the one dark mid-tone. Once students leave the white as the white of the paper, and then loosely color in with 3 different colored pencils the dark, mid-dark, and mid light value areas on tracing paper the three-color image emerges. Then we will use cutters to cut out the stencils that allow us to apply the acrylic paint by layers on a Bristol paper.
