Treat Our Bookshelves With Graphic Novels on the American Revolution

Help me give my students literature in the genre of nonfiction that ties into our reading program, Expeditionary Learning, and a George Washington Funko Pop.

My Project

Dr. Seuss states, "Fill your house with stacks of books in all the crannies and in all the nooks."

I teach a dynamic bunch of enthusiastic and creative, fourth-grade students whom we will prepare for a bright future.

My biggest challenge is having resources for all children to utilize as books for research reading in our reading program. My goal is to gather informational books in the genre of nonfiction to build our classroom library for this reading program. These books will be used for independent reading, as well as an additional resource for the children to further learn about the American Revolution. I would also love one George Washington Funko Pop. I teach a multicultural, fourth-grade class in a Title I school with limited resources. By the end of the year, I expect to see my students' reading, math, science, and social studies levels rise.

Dr Seuss says, "The more you read, the more you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go."

This book resonates with me because it is so important for all children to have equitable access to the best children's literature out there. We must immerse children in books.

I want to inspire children to develop a passion and a love for books like no other. Let's inspire children to become lifelong readers and to crave reading famous books by renowned authors. We are in need of books to develop for our classroom library for a unit.
