My Project

COVID-19's effects continue to be present in my students. These effects have changed the way students socialize, explore, and learn. During COVID-19, all of my students did their school work and learning on a Chromebook. Now that we are back in the classroom, I want to give my students the opportunity to set their Chromebook aside and utilize paper books, atlases, and globes to learn, explore, and collaborate.

The items I have requested through this project will open my students' eyes to engage with the world around them in a way that encourages reading, exploring, and collaborating with others.

The class set of Merriam-Webster’s Student Atlas will allow my students to learn and see not only Oklahoma from a different perspective, but the rest of the world as well. Instead of getting on Google and searching a location on the web, I will teach them about latitude, longitude, different types of maps, and how to use those maps to explore and locate new places. The illuminated globe will help my students hold the world in their hands and see it from a different perspective. They will be amazed to see the constellations all over the world by using the night feature. The document camera with writing board will allow me to display and share books, newspaper articles, and other learning resources that I cannot distribute to each student. The external hard drive will allow me to store all important educational documents and work for the students in one location that we can access easily.

I cannot wait to see how these resources impact, engage, and encourage my students to step away from their small computer screens and look at the world from a different perspective.
