Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) and our district have added a new competitive event E-Sports, to our athletic department. E-Sports is the combination of team-based competition and video games for students. This new competition has been created to reach students who have been uninvolved or disengaged in typical athletic competitions. The inclusion of E-Sports has allowed schools to be more inclusive of underrepresented students. E-Sports is also allowing for a merging of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to our department of athletics. My campus is the first in the district to start a competitive program with little to no funding. This new area of E-Sports is a globally growing field that has created a revenue stream the can provide scholarships to students of all ages.

This project would give my students the opportunity to participate and compete in the AIA E-Sports Events to earn scholarships while gaining precious STEM knowledge and experience.

We are requesting equipment for the E-Sports Program to help transport our equipments and snacks to our competitions. My students and I will appreciate all the support donated and provided to help each student earn scholarships and find their pathway to college.
