My Students

Integration, Innovation, and Inquiry represents what we strive for at our school. Our students strive to think outside of the box and learn about the world they live in unique and relevant ways. Because our students live in middle to upper middle class neighborhoods, public school funding for innovative products is not as readily available as is available in lower socio-economic schools. For this reason, we need to rely on funding from outside sources such as grants and DonorsChoose to provide unique and rich experiences that these students need.

Middle School students are naturally curious about the world they live in and are very aware of the fun and exciting technologies available.

They are highly motivated when they are given these opportunities. It is the goal of our school to bring them these opportunities in a way that allows them to explore their current educational demands in unique and integrated ways.

My Project

With the change in standards we get to investigate topics such as Space, Energy, and Ecosystems. To make an impact on their learning, they need to be able to go beyond the standard text and reading assignment. They need to be able to think outside of the box and use innovation and creativity to express their understanding.

My students need to have the opportunities to make their learning come alive using Green Screen technology that transports their learning to the next level of understanding.

For instance, students can transport themselves into space and explain their understanding write their on Jupiter. They can talk about the gravitational pull between the Earth and the Moon and describe how this causes the moon to orbit the Earth. Students can jump into a ecosystem and discuss how the various elements of the ecosystem interact to balance each other out. With the technology, students are given the freedom to move away from pencil and paper, and let their minds explore the science in a unique and inspiring way.

The iPad stands I am asking for are designed specifically for iPads to hold them in place, and operate them just as you would operate any camera on a stand. The Green Screens allow students to set up their Green Screen environment anywhere they wish so that they are not dependent on a classroom or outside wall. The two items in conjunction, allow students to explore their creativity and transport themselves into the environments they are studying. Please consider helping them on this journey!
