I am a dedicated high school resource room teacher in my hometown. The students that I work with are funny and energetic ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders. I am so lucky that when I work with students in the resource room, I am often working with them, one one one, or in small groups. This provides me with the time to form strong relationships with them.
I get great joy from being able to provide a comfortable, relaxing space in the resource room and to offer items that meet their basic needs as well as items that help them to be as productive as possible.
I also feel strongly that I need to help provide materials for project-based learning opportunities that they can use to express their learning in non-traditional ways.
My Project
I spend part of my day working with high school seniors on what they want to do after high school. I need a bus so that I can take them on a ROAD TOUR of trade schools that offer apprenticeships, as well as companies that are ready to hire our students upon graduation and pay to train them. I want my students to be able to make informed decisions about what they want to do. I want them to SEE the apprenticeship trade programs and SEE the places that they could start working right after graduation. My goal is that each student is set up with school or their job after graduation. I do not want to lose any students to summer burn out. I would love to get them signed up before they graduate. Thank you for considering this project! I would love to be able to take my kids on this ROAD TOUR.
