My Project

My students are vibrant, enthusiastic, and passionate about learning. We come from a small, rural farming town in Western New York of less than 8,000 people. The students here are cared for like family by a faculty of innovative and caring teachers. Our mission is to put the kids first in every decision we make.

The items in this project serve several goals.

The first goal is seeking regulation and mindfulness within our classroom. The Calm Strips and the Mindfulness CD will guide my students in recognizing when they are losing control and need to come back to their base. We are working on understanding Zones of Regulation in Byron-Bergen and I would like to build upon the strategies taught to them in 2nd grade.

I am also seeking organizational and teaching materials to help me transition to not only a larger group of students, but to a new grade level. I will need to stay organized and have helpful routines with my students, and book bins will help me to make my groupings clear and concise. I am also teaching time next year and it would be helpful to have a large clock to manipulate together.
