Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students spend most of their day sitting at their desks, learning. This is especially hard, as many of my students have learning disabilities. My therapy room is a fun place for them to come to move and strengthen their bodies and minds, and to learn new skills that will help them learn and pay attention in class. A tunnel and scooter board will help my students strengthen their core and upper body by encouraging them to crawl and use their hands and legs together. The dressing boards will help to strengthen their fingers and hand muscles, which will help them when manipulating classroom tools such as pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue.

My students have so much fun in our room that it is sometimes hard to leave to go back to class.

A weighted bear will be used as a transition object, to accompany them back to class so they will be excited to return to class to implement all of the skills we learned in OT!

Movement and transitions can be hard at school. By donating to this project, you will help my students strengthen their skills and ultimately do the best they can in school!
