My Project

COVID has opened my eyes to new learning for my students and me. It has opened my mind to how the students learn differently, with technology more heavily integrated with the content. We as teachers need to adjust to the new way of learning. These materials will help me create lesson plans geared to help freshmen in 9th grade become more social and independent. I say this because, after COVID, I have seen a BIG drop in student participation and would like to increase the engagement of the freshmen. In our Natural Resources Academy, we are the only academy that houses freshmen so it is vital to instill life skills such as community-based instructions. In doing so, some of our past field trips have been to the surrounding elementary schools where our freshmen would read to the children with the books we made here in the academy. All of the markers and pens are to create the book itself. I added Limu and Rainbow Fish for the kids to get an idea of what were looking for. The rug is to create a lively learning environment. The sensory toys are for the IDEA student who may not want to participate in the activity for the day, we have students who just play and build social skills. The whiteboard is used by the students to show their thinking. I'd like a chart so I can see everything scheduled for a month in advance. The students love to design and make it their own.
