This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As the 21st century learning environment emerges, technology is enhancing the way teachers teach and students learn. Your support, coupled with the effective use of technology expands my ability to engage students in real-world, authentic learning experiences that promote 21st century readiness.

Our school is in the process of turning around years of school failure to meet the needs of our diverse students.

Recently moved to its new location with a renewed vision for student achievement, it is a small school dedicated to student excellence. Raising life long learners and our students' achievement is our primary goal. Our nurturing environment and standards based instruction support the development and language needs of all children. Because of its small size, the staff, parents, neighbors, community helpers and children know each other well. The staff is committed to developing our students' academic, social and creative potential to produce the next generation of smart, creative, kind and caring adults. We want the tools of technology to help our students create, communicate and collaborate more effectively. Integrate technology into the classroom to better support reluctant readers and students with special needs by using iPads during Balance Literacy and Math.

My Project

The iPad I am requesting will allow me to become more mobile as the lead technology teacher, in delivering technology instruction to our students, their parents and our school staff. Our computer lab technology has expanded to get more mobile devices in the hands of our young scholars. Digital Storytelling can transform our students' writing into a visual masterpiece that is filled with voice and emotion, while enhancing critical thinking skills. The iPad takes digital storytelling to a new level by making the process easier, and even more engaging for students of all grade levels as well as for their teachers. We will create math learning stations, through the use of these math applications, students will improve their skills with basic math facts and mental computation. Used on a weekly basis, these students have shown documented improvement in their abilities on timed addition, subtraction, multiplication and division tests.

By donating and helping fund this project, you will provide me more mobility in reaching over 230 students, their classroom teachers and their families.

This iPad will be in constant motion, setting up digital learning stations across the school, demonstrating productivity, creativity, keynote presentations, iBooks, audio books, math and science centers, as well as iMovie, and Garage Band. There is so much to be done, and I need a good iPad with a large capacity to help me do this work.
