This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are seeking generous donations through DonorsChoose to establish a vibrant theatre space at our school, complete with essential backdrops, stands, and plants, that will create an inspiring environment for creativity and learning. Specifically, we need a variety of backdrops such as a starry night sky, a scenic forest, and a city skyline to provide versatile settings for our performances. Additionally, we require sturdy backdrop stands to securely hold these visuals in place during rehearsals and shows. To enhance the atmosphere, we would like to incorporate live plants and artificial greenery to bring a touch of nature into our theatre, creating an inviting and immersive experience for both performers and audiences.
Establishing this dedicated theatre space will significantly benefit our school academically and culturally.
Engaging in drama and theatre activities in middle school helps students develop essential skills such as public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking. These activities encourage self-expression and boost confidence, allowing students to connect with their peers and explore their creativity. Furthermore, participation in theatre cultivates empathy and understanding as students immerse themselves in diverse characters and narratives. By having a dedicated space for these activities, we can foster a greater appreciation for the arts, enhance collaboration among students, and create memorable experiences that will resonate throughout their educational journey.
