To help build our sense of community on campus, our library serves as a "hub" where students come to not just check out a great book, but also to connect with others and feel a sense of belonging! One way to help students engage with the library in this way is to provide programming activities. Some of the items in this project, like the balancing dinosaur blocks, puzzle tray, or the Brain Flakes, can be used independently or collaboratively by students. Other items, like the games, foster connections in a low-stakes manner. The standing book spinner will be used to spotlight specific books based on rotating themes to help students find a book they are excited about reading!
By continuing to transform the library space, I hope to build an even stronger sense of community.
I look forward to seeing how excited students will be about these new additions and how these items will allow students even more opportunities to connect with others when they come to our dynamic library!
