Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so inspired by my students resilience and determination to rise above the struggles they face each and every day. Each student has so much to offer! They are truly capable of making great accomplishments, but they, so often, lack self confidence and motivation. Many of them struggle with their every day-to-day existence. I've witnessed first hand how my students have been able to overcome their challenges. I've come to realize that little small expressions of love go a long way to building that self-confidence and motivation. That love can be expressed in many ways. One way is by supporting my student's learning with unique and creative tools.
One uniquely creative way I believe would support my student's learning would be with a document scanner.
Yes, a document scanner. For one, the scanner would allow my class to digitize our printed materials, making them accessible for all students. Additionally, I could digitize my students work in order to have samples on the ready when teaching a lesson. Every single writing lesson, for example, that I teach requires student writing samples. These student generated samples are an extremely important part of allowing students to see that they are capable of doing the same thing that their classmates are capable of doing. Having digitized student created writing samples readily available for my writing lessons (to display on our class smart board) would be worth its weight in gold! Honest. What an amazing expression of love this would be.
