Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am passionate about my students, who represent the vibrant diversity of Queens. Many are first-generation learners navigating both language acquisition and academic challenges. In my special education ICT classroom, I see their resilience and determination every day.

The vertical whiteboards I’m requesting will revolutionize our learning environment.

These boards will allow students to collaborate in groups, facilitating hands-on engagement with math concepts. This dynamic setup encourages peer-to-peer interaction, essential for building communication skills, especially for those learning English. The visual aspect of the boards will also cater to various learning styles, helping students better grasp complex ideas.

My primary goals for this project are to:

Foster Collaboration: Encourage teamwork and discussion among students, which is crucial for developing social and academic skills.

Create a more interactive and stimulating learning environment that motivates students to participate actively.

Provide opportunities for students to practice language skills in a safe and supportive setting.

My students are unique not only because of their diverse backgrounds but also due to their incredible spirit. They face challenges head-on and are eager to learn, often supporting one another in their journeys. By providing them with the tools they need, we can create a classroom where every student feels valued and capable of success.
