Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a 15-year brain cancer survivor, I have experienced firsthand the challenges and emotional toll that come with battling this disease. Fifteen years ago, I wore a wig during my treatment, which not only helped me cope with the physical changes but also brought a sense of normalcy and joy to my life.

Our “Wigs for Kids” event is a heartfelt initiative aimed at encouraging students to donate their hair to create wigs for children undergoing treatment.

This event is not just about collecting hair; it is about spreading hope, love, and smiles to those who need it the most.

By donating their hair, students have the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of young children, helping them regain their confidence and sense of self during a difficult time.

Our student donors are ready to give a part of themselves to help others, but comfy stools will be beneficial to make this possible. These stools will provide a stable and comfortable seat for our brave students as they donate their hair to create wigs for children in need.

The inspiration behind this event stems from my own journey. I remember the comfort and happiness my wig brought me, and I want to ensure that other children can experience that same joy. Hair loss can be a daunting and isolating experience for children, but with the support of our community, we can help them feel beautiful and strong.

Together, we can make a difference. By donating hair, we are not just giving a physical gift; we are offering hope, strength, and a reason to smile. Help us bring light to the lives of children who need it the most. Let’s make a lasting impact, one strand at a time.
