My Project

Mindfulness and social emotional learning (SEL) for children and adults is deeply needed in our world. In my 30 years of teaching young children, I have seen the critical need for this part of learning in their school day.

Many children have anxiety, stress, self and social awareness challenges that hold them back.

My journey as an educator continues as I participate in a Master of Education in Transformative Teaching Leadership. The training will enhance my knowledge of social emotional learning and mindful movement to support my local schools.

Breathe for Change is offering this graduate opportunity providing additional tools and expertise, in order to transform my teaching and leadership in my community and schools. Social emotional learning as the data overwhelmingly shows, is an integral part of education and human development.

We see how incredibly important it is to help our children learn the skills and apply knowledge to develop healthy identities, achieve personal and collective goals, within the school community.

As part of my master's program, I will be conducting an action research project, helping support and move the field of education forward in mindfulness and social emotional learning.

Breathe for Change uses equity and trauma informed practices, with the most current research in education in developing their programs. This program offers some of the best training available in SEL education. I am excited and committed to be gaining practical strategies to foster well-being in my community.
