Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Due to the joy of being able to parent 3 lovely girls I previously left my teaching career. Now I pursue another chapter in my life of going back to revive my teaching career.

I have been given a great teaching opportunity for a Kindergarten class in a neighborhood that most children are either in shelters or underprivileged.

The classroom I have been given doesn't have many center materials or equipment needed to enhance the students' learning and their ability to learn to read and write. My plans are to transform this classroom from an ideal classroom into a reality, in order to design a creative space that will promote student creativity. The first place I would like to create is my circle time area. This area requires rugs for the children to sit on, a whiteboard that will allow me to teach my mini lessons, and chart paper to create anchor charts. The listening center will allow my students an opportunity to hear stories that will inspire them to read more. The laminator will allow me to protect all the materials for the centers that I have created.

My Project

These materials will allow me to create a functional literacy inspired classroom. The rugs will allow my students the opportunity to sit comfortably for shared reading and mini lesson. The radio will help bring music into my classroom to allow for multiple intelligence. The charts, markers, laminator and other materials will help me create activities for the centers. The listening center will encourage my Kindergarten students to love books and inspire them to read them.

In conclusion this project will bring an education to the students geared toward preparing them for a better learning future.

The impact of these materials will be filled with unforgettable memories that will be carried with them into their next grade and beyond.
