My Students

My students are amazing. I know, you probably hear this a lot but seriously, they are phenomenal. They attend a Title I school in the Bronx where they each receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Our students often have the odds stacked against them but they do not let this define them.

Our students are creative, innovative, and full of life, but this is only part of what makes them so phenomenal.

Our kids are continually defying odds. We have the unique ability of being a public school with a mission to help the world around us in regards to wildlife conservation. Even in an urban setting our students are constantly coming up with ideas to not only help get the word out about species in peril, but also to help in their own neighborhoods.

My Project

While my students all walk to school, none of them really walk with purpose. This being said, my students came up with an idea of how to make sure they are walking with purpose.

My students were inspired to get Fitbits so that they can track not only their own daily steps but also their sleeping habits.

Many of them show up late to school because they are not getting enough sleep at night.

With Fitbits my students believe they will be inspired to compete not only against each other in regards to who has the most steps but also with me. My students know that I like to win so this will only drive them to work harder on achieving their goals, which I'm sure will be beating me!
