Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I work with range from 3rd to 5th grade. These group of kids are part of the Fitness Club! These students want to get healthier by walking as much as they can. Students live in a high need area, where they walk home to and from school everyday.

The Fitness Club teaches them to eat healthy and exercise as part of their daily lives.

Students will learn that being healthy is important for the rest of their lives.

My Project

The 20 pedometers will allow students in Fitness Club to record their steps everyday. Students will write their walking steps on a daily basis using a chart and create goals for themselves. This will make students feel proud of their accomplishments in Fitness Club! The Yoga mats will help students learn Yoga movements that will help their muscles and also help their concentration. Students will learn how to make healthy food choices through My Plate resources to stay healthy. I am sure these materials will make a difference in my students' life by changing the way they think about fitness!
