A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are 13-19-year-old curious creators from a variety of backgrounds who enjoy the challenge of exploring new media and processes as they develop their own personal artistic style. They experiment in everything from drawing to ceramics to glass melting!
My artists utilize technology by building an online gallery of their artwork on Artsonia or Weebly to not only track their personal growth but also to share their work with friends and family!
It is so exciting and inspiring to see them problem-solve and work through challenges to grow as an artist. With their online gallery, they are able to look back at their early work and visually identify specific areas of improvement. My students can also start to see the development of their own personal style as they progress through the course. One of the best parts is that the online gallery is theirs to utilize even after the class is over, so they may choose to continue that artistic endeavor beyond the classroom!
My Project
My artists each have their own online art gallery where they post each project as they complete it. This is such a valuable tool as they can visibly see their growth over time. They can also share this gallery with friends and family, or even college prospects when a visual portfolio is requested.
We currently have 2 working classroom tablets for 35 artists to share.
We try to post artwork to their galleries in stations or by tables, but often we run out of time before the entire group has had a chance to upload their work.
Therefore, we truly need one tablet or iPod Touch per table to best utilize in-class time and in order for each artist to add their piece to their online gallery within an appropriate timeframe. This grant will fulfill our need to have the necessary technology for each table to use!
