My Students

I am an intervention teacher who teaches 36 sweet, enthusiastic students in the area of reading. My students are kindergartners through third graders, and they represent a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The excitement that lights my students’ faces when they read a new word or are able to effectively utilize a reading strategy is an inspiration for my teaching.

My students enjoy engaging, interactive experiences, and my goal is to build their confidence and make reading enjoyable. In our classroom, we practice a growth mindset where my students understand that they can get smarter and improve skills by practicing and never giving up.

My Project

Supplementing the adopted district curriculum is so critical in differentiating and making the content meaningful and accessible for my students. Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) is a marketplace for teachers to exchange instructional materials and access easy-to-use digital tools.

With these TPT gift cards, I will purchase decodable comprehension passages, an interactive phonics curriculum, alphabet intervention manipulatives and organizers, a sound wall with pictures, and first through third-grade reading activities based on the Orton-Gillingham approach.

All of these learning experiences are researched-based and will be engaging for my students. Providing materials at my students' individual levels will help them build confidence, reduce stress, and build a love for reading.
