My Project

My students minimally verbal students with autism. They are playful, smart and very capable learners. They are always ready to explore multi-sensory toys, puzzles and hands-on material. Fidget toys are especially useful in helping children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with self-regulation. Hand fidgets can help manage anxiety, improve attention/ability to focus, or even help children calm down when dealing with a surge of emotions such as extreme anger or frustration. Fidget toys are important in allowing children to be able to fidget in a structured way, helping them to concentrate and learn. Fidget toys come in different shapes, sizes, and textures, with bright colors and original designs.

Puzzles are learning tools that teach children with autism problem solving skills, fine motor control and hand-eye coordination.

Puzzles provide children with autism a satisfying tactile sensation. Puzzles can also help improve their focus as these let them center their attention on one activity and hone their fine motor skills as they practice manipulating objects.
