Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students with ASD and Developmental Delay are amazing little people with so much potential and curiosity. They learn at different rates and with different approaches. Some of my students need more assistance than others, whether academic or emotional. My students are learning how to function appropriately in a school setting and need a little extra support.

The items I am requesting will allow my special needs students to grow emotionally and academically as they get ready for the first grade.

The Montessori toys will support some of my students with fine motor skills. The weighted blankets will bring a sense of security to a few of my students and assist them with emotional regulation, allowing them to focus more on their class activities. The buzzers will assist my non-verbal students in communicating in various ways, whether to alert me of their need to use the restroom or make requests. The dividers will allow me to create defined spaces in the classroom to give my students a sense of security as they move from station to station throughout the day.

By providing my students with the tools they need, I hope to give them the confidence and safe space they need to continue to grow and reach their potential.
