My Students

I teach a self-contained class of 12 students. This is a 2-year first-grade program, meaning depending on the progress of the students, they may be promoted to the second grade. Several of the students are making satisfactory progress and some of the students will need an extra year in first grade to have a successful year in the second grade.

Our school is a Title 1 school meaning that more than half of our students qualify for free lunch.

With this in mind, we try to provide our students with quality experiences.

My Project

This museum trip will be a day of learning outside of the classroom. Our day begins with a schedule beginning with reading, writing, language, and math led by me. Recess is 15 minutes of play on the playground.

Students will be in charge of learning by using at least three of their senses: touching, seeing and hearing.

Students will distinguish between living and non-living things in an environment, investigate how forces (push, pull) can move an object or change its direction, investigate materials that are attracted to magnets and observe gears. The purpose of the trip is to have fun and learn.
