Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a wonderful mix of native English speakers and second language learners. They are nurturing, caring and eager to learn. They are growing up in a low socioeconomic/high poverty area.

Their exposure to poverty, however, doesn't hold them back from wanting to learn more not just about the areas they know well, but also about the world at large.

Fourth grade is easily one of the most intense grades in Elementary school. In addition to the ELA and Math tests, we also have the Science exam to contend with.

My Project

We are requesting microscopes and a variety of slides to observe the differences between animal and plant cells. We are also requesting test tubes and plant kits to experiment further with cells, as well as a bacteria kit to also witness the decomposition process of cells.

Our children learn better through hands-on exposure to Science.

They have completed all of the textbook readings and with these materials, they will be able to put that knowledge to use. We have also requested some safety tools such as goggles and a storage cart to help us keep it all organized. Lastly, there is an additional book to help guide our upcoming experiments.
