My Students

I teach third grade in a high poverty school in Georgia, which can make teaching a challenge at times. One hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast and ninety percent receive free or reduced price lunches this year. This school year, thirty-five percent of my students receive Special Education services, and three-fourths of my students are receiving EIP services (Early Intervention Program) in both Math and Reading.

Despite their challenges, my students are motivated to learn and have dreams of becoming scientists, mathematicians, authors, and engineers.

However, the shortage of funds makes it difficult for us to get the resources needed. Projects like these will get our students excited about learning and keep them engaged.

My Project

My students are starting to read anything and everything! Therefore, Toon books are a great resource that will provide my students with a immense opportunities to practice reading using visual supports. However, finding books that are engaging isn't easy. This set of Toon books is just what we need to help meet the needs of some of the students. These would make a great addition to our classroom library and reading block.

Help my tiny minds I teach by providing opportunities to read through TOON books.

My students want to read. They love to look at books with a lot of pictures and easy to read text. These books will provide the support and promote successful reading through imaginative graphics. I have visual learners and books like TOON books provide the support they need to become great independent readers.
