This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am lucky to still have the opportunity to teach my students remotely. They are in a Pre-K ICT classroom. They all have different learning styles which calls for a lot of differentiated instruction. They come from a low income neighborhood and do not always come to school ready to learn. I help them feel safe and heard in my classroom. Their opinions matter in how they learn and what they want to learn. They enjoy exploring different materials through play. For most of them, in school is their only time to explore play.

My Project

I really enjoy teaching Pre-K! As you know teaching Pre-K children requires a lot of hands on learning. They learn through doing. This has been hard for me to do since my students do not have the proper materials at home. I can't ask families to order these materials because many of them lost their jobs and are just focused on paying everyday necessities such as rent, food, and other day to day necessities.

I dream of being able to deliver these kits to my children so that they can have hands on tools to support them in literacy lessons for the rest of the school year, the summer time and even during kindergarten!
