My Project

Aloha! COVID has impacted our students socially, emotionally, and academically. However, our students are resilient! They are hard workers and are motivated to push through and persevere to make as many gains as possible for themselves. To foster a social emotional and academic learning community, projects, collaboration, and explicit SEL instruction incorporating the Nā Hopena Aʻo framework, are at the forefront of our teaching.

More than ever our students are in need of more opportunities to work together and learn how to engage positively with each other.

This is how your kind donation of tools will support and help our students to thrive in the midst of COVID! Our students are in need of a class printer and toner to print their collaborative group projects, so they can be displayed. The mini projector is portable for our grade level to use in different spaces such as the cafeteria, where students will need to project visuals to present to others or to follow exercise presentations for PE. This will foster the courage to present and student health and well-being. To promote collaboration and communication, students will use Post-It notes to provide feedback, critical thoughts, and encouragement to one another on their assignments. Permanent markers and construction paper will be used for artistic expression. Through art forms, students will share their art with one another and acknowledge its beauty. The blue tape will provide lines with isles and boundaries for safety. Composition books will be used for academic subjects, SEL journals, and literature circles. The composition books will help students to communicate their thoughts through writing, mathematical note-taking, and equations, or through the use of thinking maps.
